In his youth, Kneipp contracted tuberculosis. Two distinguished physicians concured that he was "on the brink of the grave". Kneipp found a treatise on a cold water cure and used it on himself, bathing in the icy waters of the Danube river for a few minutes a day for a year.He slowly cured himself of the disease and started to share the cure with others. |
| Who was Sebastian Kneipp? |
| In the mid to late 1800’s, Sebastian Kneipp revolutionized natural medicine. At the age of 28, Sebastian Kneipp cured himself of a severe case of tuberculosis (a disease considered incurable during this time) by taking brief immersions in the cold waters of the Danube during the winter. Kneipp dedicated the rest of his long life to harnessing the healing power of water by using specific plants and herbs. Kneipp was not just a pioneer, but also became an authority in the field of holistic healing. |
